    Borderlands Truck Art

Visitors can interact with the exhibition 10:00–15:00, Thursday–Saturday during the first week, and Monday–Saturday during Half Term.

Entry is free and includes access to a creative workshop, offering deeper insight into the stories, symbolism and collaborations behind the work.

Inspired by the richly decorated truck art of Pakistan, the exhibition features striking painted panels designed by communities in Middlesbrough, as well as a specially created TukTuk, blending traditional motifs with contemporary stories from across borders.

This tour comes to us from a collaboration between The Leap and Borderlands Creative People and Places, a project which used creativity to amplify voices often unheard, and which built connections across communities and continents.

At the heart of the exhibition is a unique co-creation process. Bradford-based artists Zareena Bano, Aamta-Tul Waheed and Teesside artist Miki Rogers worked alongside expert truck art artists in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and with communities in Bradford and Middlesbrough, to produce artworks rooted in shared heritage, poetry and lived experience. The result is an installation that honours Pakistani truck art culture while giving it a distinctive contemporary twist, inviting communities across the UK to bring their own experiences and places into full technicolour.

Colourful, meaningful and celebratory, Borderlands Truck Art invites everyone to experience art that travels, connects and speaks across borders.

    For one of our trustees:

I would like to invite you to join me at the preview of the poem and exhibition in my Kitchen and garden on 4th June anytime between 2pm and 9pm.

It is advertised as an exhibition in the North Yorkshire Open Studios catalogue.

My friends Annie and Mal live on different continents but have collaborated over their experience of Bridlington Bay.

There will be a chance to see other things in the workshop and …

Bidi will be creating stories in the garden throughout the day.  Bring your imagination with you to the cushions to join in this interactive storytelling experience.

It might be a good experience for your grandchildren.

I do hope you will be able to call in another day if you are not able to join me at the preview.
